MSU Sociology is pleased to host a Young Alumni career discussion panel with some of our successful sociology graduates.
Panelists include:
- Jordan Lampton is a Physical Security Specialist at Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, creating and implementing physical security systems, conducting investigations, designing emergency procedures, and more. In May 2020 Jordan graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice with minors in Sociology and Security Management. Since completing undergraduate studies, Jordan graduated from Boston University with her Masters in Enterprise Risk Management, earned her Associate Protection Professional certification, and is working toward her Professional Certified Investigator certification. In her free time, Jordan loves to spend time with her kitten, binge watch Desperate Housewives, and read all the mystery novels she can.
- Abigail Jurrens was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2020 with a double major Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Abi graduated from Michigan State University in 2021 with a Master of Science in Law Enforcement Intelligence and Analysis. During her undergraduate years, Abi worked as a Research Assistant for several professors on a variety of projects, which catalyzed her passion for a data driven career. Her participation in the American Criminal Justice Association and Alpha Phi Sigma, a Criminal Justice professions group, helped her discover the existence of Crime Analysts. This interest further intensified as she had internships at the Michigan State Police’s Intelligence Center and Homeland Security Investigations. While in graduate school, Abi worked part-time as a Crime Analyst at the Detroit Police Department. She have now been the sole Crime Analyst for the Eau Claire Police Department, in Wisconsin, for just over 2 years.
- Cassidy Versen graduated from MSU in May of 2023 with a BA in Sociology and a Minor in Women and Gender Studies. During her time at MSU, Cassidy was in a sorority (Pi Beta Phi) as well as a part of Alpha Kappa Delta, an international sociology honors society. She is from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and upon graduation she moved back home and currently work as a research assistant through Northwestern University through the All of Us research program. She plans on soon applying to Master's programs for counseling in the winter.
- Nicole Bernard is an MSU alumna with a BA in Psychology and an additional major in Sociology. She currently serve as the Communications Director for State Senator Erika Geiss. She am deeply committed to environmental justice and advocating for equity and justice in all spheres of our society.
