Topic: A Discussion on Campus Sexual Violence: A State of Institutionalized Sexual Terrorism

Presented by: Sarah Prior, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor & Undergraduate Program Director, Sociology Department and Director of the Bailey Scholars Program

Michigan State University

Campus Sexual Violence: A State of Institutionalized Sexual Terrorism conceptualizes sexual violence on college campuses as a form of sexual terrorism. Using a sexual terrorism framework, the authors examine a myriad of examples of campus sexual violence with an intersectional lens and explore the role of the institution and the influence of neoliberalism in undermining sexual violence prevention efforts. Dr. Prior’s discussion will focus on the impact of the push toward neoliberalism within higher education and ways to move forward when researching and supporting marginalized populations.

Please register here. Registration for both sessions will close on Wednesday, March 8th at 5pm. For any questions regarding these events, please contact Michael Allensworth at poe.michaelallensworth@msu.edu.
