BIOGRAPHY
Şevval is a first-year PhD student at Michigan State Sociology. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Science at Istanbul University in 2019. In 2024, she completed her master’s degree at the same faculty with a thesis titled “Islamist Women between 1960–1980: Political Socialization and University Experiences.” She worked as a research assistant at Kocaeli University between 2022-2025. She was also a workplace representative for the Education and Science Workers’ Union. She is currently pursuing her PhD as a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey. Up to this point, her work has mainly focused on historiography of the women's movement, oral history, Turkish studies, political sociology, and social movements. While her interest in these areas continues, she is now conducting research on Muslim Americans.
