BIOGRAPHY

Stephanie is a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Sociology at Michigan State. Her research interests surround inequality, stratification, and power imbalances among underserved communities and actors guiding social policies and reform measures. She is particularly interested in examining these topics through an international lens, with a focus on migration and modern development practices. Her master’s work analyzed poetry as a means to gauge and qualitatively measure the raw experiences of those enduring hardship, and how this information might serve as a key indicator for policy transformation. She will be building upon arts-based research in her studies to qualitatively assess complex problems and how these can be understood and effectively addressed by agents of change. She aims to draw from her work managing international projects and serving in the human rights sphere to deepen her research.
