BIOGRAPHY
she/her/they (why?)
Karessa Weir (kah-RESS-uh weer why?) came to the Department of Sociology from the Environmental Science and Policy Program where she served as communications and outreach specialist for 7 years. She has bachelors' degrees in Journalism and Anthropology from MSU and a master's degree in Environmental Journalism, also from MSU. She has worked as an environmental journalist in Maryland and Michigan. She and her husband, Brian Wheeler, live in East Lansing with their three children and countless pets.
In addition to her work in Sociology, she serves as communications manager for the Department of Political Science and the Chicano/Latino Studies Program. She also teaches Writing and Reporting for the MSU School of Journalism, and serves on the board of directors of East Lansing Info.
