BIOGRAPHY
Saadmaan Jubayer Khan is a Ph.D. student and Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Sociology at Michigan State University (beginning in Fall 2025).He is currently on study leave from his position as a faculty member in the Department of Disaster Management & Resilience (DMR) at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Prior to joining academia, Saadmaan gained experience in both governmental and non-governmental sectors, including an internship at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief under the Government of Bangladesh and professional work at a national NGO. He has also served as a national volunteer with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) and completed a Training of Trainers program in Disaster Management in India.
Saadmaan earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies at the University of Dhaka. His main research interests include social aspects of disasters, the environment, public health, and human behavior. He is particularly interested in assessing how transboundary environmental hazards influence unequal cross-border migrations and displacements.
