Regan Kania, Senior Academic Advisor for MSU Sociology and College of Social Science has been honored for his work toward student success.
The “Initiative of the Year” award, given by Dr. Ken Horne Jr., CSS Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies, was given to Kania for his work on a committee working with College Office of Student Success. Initiative of the Year is to recognize an individual or a group of individuals who have implemented a program or process that has benefited any student population within the college, Horne wrote.
“I helped to identify and explore ways to help students in our College who attended some college but left with no degree, and how to help them complete what was missing,” Kania said.
Kania also serves as Senior Academic Advisor for the Center for Integrative Studies in Social Science. He is an elected board member of the Michigan Academic Advising Association.
Earlier this month, Kania gave a professional presentation at the annual Michigan Academic Advising Association Conference with advisor Matt Hahnenberg (Human Resources and Labor Relations). Their presentation was titled “It’s for Their Own Good: The Importance of Completing an Internship.”
