Put your education to work in Public Sociology

August 4, 2022

Dr. Stacy Smith's course SOC 490: Public Sociology explores issues from pandemics to reproductive health care. Enroll today!

This class focuses on interpreting and communicating a sociological perspective for the general public (students from other disciplines are more than welcome!). We will explore what public sociology means, and students will work either independently or in groups - and potentially with a public change agent - on a topic of their choice. For example: are you interested in access to reproductive health care in the United States? Use this class to dive deeply into the topic and share what you learn in a way that can inform and motivate the everyday person.

Open to any undergraduate and graduate students. There are no prerequisites. However, there are restrictions if you are not Sociology major. Ask Dr. Smith or Mr. Kania, advisor, for an override (kania@msu.edu).
