Sociology PhD student Inna Mirzoyan has been selected as the winner of this year's Rita Gallin Award for Best Graduate Paper on Women and Gender in Global Perspective for her paper titled To Intersectionality & Beyond: A Review on Queering Intersectional Approaches by the MSU Center for Gender in Global Context.
Ms. Mirzoyan will receive $250 at the MSU GenCen Annual Reception on Jan. 31, 2020. The paper stemmed from a course Ms. Mirzoyan took with Dr. Soma Chaudhuri, Associate Professor of Sociology.
Ms. Mirzoyan was a 2018-19 Interdisciplinary Inquiry and Teaching Fellow and, in addition to her work in Sociology, she is pursuing a Women's and Gender Studies Specialization and a Certification in College Teaching.
Her research asks what happens to migrants after they leave their home countries and how they maintain transnational ties. She has earned both an BA and MA from Michigan State University.
