NOTE: Due to the large interest in this event, we had to move the location to B117 Wells Hall to accommodate all who are interested in attending.
MSU Sociology is pleased to co-host with MSU Criminal Justice a guest speaker event with Walter Dunn as he discusses his wrongful conviction and social justice.
Walter Dunn served 13 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit. After successfully overturning his wrongful conviction in 2022, Walter has dedicated his life to advocating for criminal justice reform and supporting others impacted by systemic injustice. He is a motivational speaker, author, life coach, and reform advocate who has spoken at colleges, conferences, and events across the country.
In this compelling presentation, Walter will share his personal journey through wrongful conviction and incarceration, exploring the systemic issues that contribute to wrongful convictions, the psychological and social impacts of imprisonment, and the power of resilience and advocacy in creating meaningful change. His story provides real-world insights into criminal justice reform, institutional inequality, trauma and recovery, and the pursuit of justice.
This event is co-sponsored by the School of Criminal Justice, Department of Psychology, and Department of Sociology.
This event is free and open to all MSU undergraduate and graduate students.
