Yan Zhang is a first year doctoral student in the Department of Sociology at Michigan State University. She obtained her Masters in Sociology at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2016. Her research areas include health disparities, gender, sexuality, and family. Yan’s master thesis worked on the relationship between gender role ideology, self-rated health and happiness in China based CGSS 2013. Her current work at MSU examines the sexual activity and mental health among the older people in the U.S.
