Wenhua Lai (Zoey) is a first year Ph.D. student in Sociology, with a specialization in Global Urban Studies Program (GUSP). Her area of research focuses mainly on governance, urban regeneration, globalization and the political-economic influences toward our urban life. Her research investigated how creative city discourses are institutionalized in policy arenas, embedded in urban regenerate practices, and articulated by agents spanning public-private projects.
Before joining MSU, she worked on research projects related to environmental issues (renewable energy), animal husbandry and food security policy at National Taiwan University. The participation of those research projects also strengthened her academic interest in examining the gap between the political rhetoric and implementation, and more importantly the actors and the political-economic processes which make specific policies impracticable.
